Acknowledging that violence against women continues to be tragically widespread, two female performers, Julia (the choreographer) and Teresa (her collaborator) have created a work that explores the relationship between a victim and an abuser. Together, they seek to unearth the dynamics embedded in this intimacy, exploring behavioural patterns and the ways in which power and submission manifest.

Julia Burnham is a freelance performing artist and choreographer who began dancing at a young age with various community groups in Alexandra Township. She has danced as a full-time company member with the Moving Into Dance Mopharong (MIDM) and with the Vuyani Dance Theatre. She has toured internationally and performed at major events, including the 2010 FIFA World Cup and presidential inaugurations. Having participated in various workshops with William Kentridge, she is now a part of The Head & The Load project.
